It's a shame the French and British governments couldn't come up with the cash to erect the banners of the Black Prince and Philip VI as a commemoration. If they're worried about funding, the governments could open a Go Fund Me account. Frankly, I'm a little surprised the private sector hasn't done it.
It’s an interesting thought, but all of the British victory sites in France are like this. It took us forever to get the lay of the land at Poitiers, another of the great battles of western history. We haven’t tried Agincourt, but expect it would be similar. The politics are complicated, and the hatchets are so long and deeply buried. And it’s probably not germane, but at the time of these battles, the British crown was more French than most Frenchmen.
Exceptionally good photos this week and thoughtful commentary about the world. Your travel blog is seriously touching a variety of life’s issues. I didn’t expect this on initiation. I’m glad to see this approach and read about it. Thank you!
I think we all think about travel as happy, happy fun. The truth is you are reminding us to learn and think about the past, present and future. See you next week. 😎
