Haven’t been to Bruxelles in 40 years, this makes me want to visit again. I clearly remember having chocolate in the Grande Place (Vittamer?) and of course, who could forget the Mannequin Pis?! Enjoyed this, thank you.

Thanks for the comment! That chocolate is still going strong. One of the upstart local brands (Passion) is made on our residential block east of town-- how’s that for zoning? Minimal sugar except for the centers and no milk. Glinda is running out for the chocolate cherries as we speak before they close. I don’t know what you’d see for changes in 40 years--we’ve been here since 1963 off and on, and the differences are pretty seismic, but I can’t say that we ever felt them as such at the time. Funny how that works.

Hello from America! Bruxelles has never really been on my travel radar, but now it is high on my list. I love your writing style by the way. Looking forward to your next post!

Thank you! As it happens, we just arrived for the autumn, and it does look beautiful here. Or at least it will, once we get over the jet lag and get out of the house. Definitely worth visiting.

I hope you enjoy your visit! The seeming magic of the trees changing colors is one of my favorite things.

No question--and we're surprised the changing hasn't really started. In our own garden, even the weeds burned in the recent heat wave, but the forests are still all green and dark and mysterious. We're off tomorrow to our favorite forest restaurant for lunch!

Sounds blissful! Enjoy!

(Our trees have only just started showing a thought about changing. The real show won’t start until October.)
